AARRGH!!!!

I am so not happy with Blogger right now. I'm way behind on reading, I should be upstairs with a custom quilt on the machine, and I can't post comments on anybody's blog!!! Okay, I know my
priorities screwed up. I want to say hello to the people whose lives I'm reading about and IT WON'T LET ME!!! There, I feel better; NOT.
Tracey, Bonnie H, Karen at Passionate Quilter I'm trying to comment. Especially Karen-don't be afraid of surgery. I had cervical disc replacement and I'm very glad I did.
I've got all my squares cut and the lines drawn to sew my HSTs. I'll do that this evening if it's not too muggy.
The sewing room is kind of coming along. Mike and I can't agree on what kind of shelves to put in the closet. And I don't really have any room for a design wall unless I do one That I can roll up right inside the sliding doors of the closet. Oh well, that's for the future.

I'm in a slump when it comes to customer quilts. I love being up there, but I hate going up. Does that make sense? When I'm alone in the house, I don't have it as bad, but when there's someone home, I'm afraid of missing something. How stupid is that? I want to quilt just not when I can be with other people. Hmm....our daughter Keri would have a field day with this in her psych class.

I showed the pic of the Precious Twins the other day. She's living here with us right now, stuff going on at home. I don't have a problem with that. But our son had to call a family meeting on Sunday because her sense of humor is different than ours so she saw Mike's and my teasing as ganging up on her. Alrighty then. We're going to say when something bothers any of us so there's no hard feelings. I thought everything was cool so when she said something last night, I told her it bothered me. Well, that didn't work. I don't want to alienate her and I sure as heck don't want to lose my son. Any ideas? I'm open to just about any suggestion.

Eileen--I tried to respond on another comment you made regarding my surgery. Sorry blogger is giving you problems. I'd like to know more about your surgery, just in case! my email is under my profile.

UGH - so sorry about the differences in communication and the assorted reactions. I wish I had some advice, rather I'd love to hear what works.

I have the same problem. Like I am willing to let things go... that equals my guilt in other peoples eyes because I don't keep rehashing!

I know what you mean about customer quilts...I love working on my longarm, but I hate that I'm upstairs by myself when Hubby and Baby K are downstairs!!

As for the communication issues, just keep reassuring the Precious Twins that you love them and allow them to work out her problems! Good Luck!!

No advice to offer on anything, but tons of sympathy. I loved getting out to the longarm, but I was escaping. =)

maybe she just thought she was teasing back or joking as well--it will work out and best to have cleared the air.

If she is going to be your DIL I would expect that she should have to learn who you are as a person - good or bad. Not knowing the whole situation I would guess she has some "growing up" to do in the relationship process. Part of being an adult is learning how to get along with nearly everyone and especially those she will spend a lot of time with for the rest of her life. Does that make sense?

Try making yourself a "work" schedule and think of the upstairs as your office. Pick your hours. I usually like to hit my office at 5 am and work fast and furiuosly until my Little Boy wakes up at about 8. Maybe you need more "office time" right now with what is going on at your house. I hope things settle down for you soon. Oh, and remember - it is YOUR house! It won't work out if you don't feel comfortable in your own house.

Cheers!

Wow, anybody that didn't hold up to teasing wouldn't last in our family! Maybe the problems at her house should be a tip off.??? Now there are problems at your house. Hmmm.

I agree, she's got problems at your home... and had problems at her home... sounds like her difficulties are being carried from one family to another. She's probably feeling pretty prickly now. How old are they?

Communication is always hard - but it is better to try than to not.
