How should I quilt this?

This is the quilt top I completed in my art quilt class. It's a pattern by Esterita Austin. How should I quilt it? I want to do it justice, after all it came out really good, IMHO.
My daughter says I should do a meander, but that doesn't seem right to me at all.
I've been working on my still life also. I've got most of the primary pieces fused together, but I'm having a problem with the background. It's suppose to be some stuff sitting on a table. I want to create the illusion of a corner of walls-two walls meeting behind the table, and I have some fabric that looks like wood but I can't seem to get the angle right. Should it be straight head on or should it be at an angle? I'm stumped.
Hopefully, inspiration will come. I'll try to get a picture later today. Maybe seeing it through the view finder will help.

Oh! It's so beautiful!
What about doing some pebbly bits here and there in the stones, lines through the stones that are kind of like cracks...and a dense fill in the 'mortar' areas? Lines out from your source of light 'illuminating' the other parts of the quilt? It's really beautiful and deserves custom quilting, for sure.

I've been looking at a CD from Sharon Schambers and I can see using a variety of fills throughout the piece rather than an all over meander. Check out the photo to see the different fills she uses.

FYI I was a bit confused when I bought this CD - thinking it was a demonstration video. It's not but I'm still very happy with it. Here's the link to the CD.

I like the idea of enhancing the stones and quilting in the light source.

The quilt is stunning! For art quilts, I often follow the edges of the color and design within the fabric. That way it enhances the piece without distracting from the whole.

Love your quilt! I agree with the other posters that you must not do a meander on this... it calls for texture in the various areas.

If you post a picture at http://www.mqresource.com/index.php under the forum section called "Design Help Needed," you will get help from your fellow quilters with drawings directly onto the quilt image.
